Windswept Trees

24" x 24"

Acrylic paint, water-based paint pen, ink pen on 1/4" birch plywood

2015

This stand of trees grows at the southernmost tip of New Zealand, a place called Slope Point. The title is the coordinates for this location. Here, the wind blows without stop, and the trees have sloped to survive the constant buffeting. They are twisted beautifully, and this altered structure is what drew me to them and landed them a place in the Structures series.
