Coelodonta antiquitatis (Woolly Rhino)

10" x 11.75"

Acrylic paint, water-based paint pen, and ink pen

2016

That's the scientific name for the woolly rhinoceros. I was on a researching kick about extinct rhinoceros species, and this lovely skeleton fit perfectly.

Doing the linework on this piece was so, so satisfying. I have a love affair with white and black lines, the finer, the better. They add something indescribable to a painting--which is why I have line drawings and handwritten text in nearly every single painting.
