Bacteria (aka Psuedomonas aeruginosa in Microgravity)

24" x 36"

Acrylic, paint pen, and ink pen on 1/4" birch plywood

In private collection

This piece is about the bacteria Psuedomonas aeruginosa, which NASA found really likes micro-gravity. They inhabit space shuttles with astronauts and grow in totally different colony structures than they do here on Earth. Humans deteriorate in space, our muscles shrink, our bones and organs suffer. But these little guys THRIVE.
